MotiMoves Distributes 2,750 Blankets in Third Phase of 20,000 Blanket Drive

This past weekend, 2,750 individuals in need received their share of the 20,000 blankets being distributed through the MotiMoves winter blanket drive. The latest phase of the initiative provided warmth and support to Langlaagte, Vrededorp, and in Krugersdorp, where donations went to the SAPS Family Violence and Sexual Offences Unit and Fhulufhelu Project Hope. These efforts are part of the their ongoing commitment to assist communities during the harsh winter months.

Zunaid Moti, founder of MotiMoves, expressed his dedication to helping those in need: “Providing warmth should be a basic human right, especially during the freezing winter months. A blanket may seem like a small gesture, but it makes a significant difference when people are struggling to stay warm. We are committed to extending our support wherever we can and ensuring that as many people as possible have the essential items they need to endure the cold.”

Founded by Moti, the MotiMoves program is a free online mentorship platform designed to empower South African youth through entrepreneurship. This innovative program revolutionizes the entrepreneurial landscape with its free online business webinars, social media mentorship, interactive competitions, and significant investments in budding entrepreneurs. MotiMoves goes beyond business skill development by also focusing on supporting individuals and communities in critical areas such as education, health, and nutrition. Through its philanthropic efforts, the program has made significant contributions across various sectors, including education bursaries, sports, and the creative arts. Impressively, MotiMoves has invested over R10 million to enhance the lives of those in need, underscoring its dedication to social upliftment.

Captain Terblanche from the SAPS Family Violence and Sexual Offences Unit emphasized the impact of the donation: “MotiMoves generous contribution comes at a critical time. These blankets will bring warmth and comfort to many vulnerable individuals and families facing the harsh realities of winter. Such acts of kindness not only provide physical relief but also restore faith and hope within our community. We are immensely grateful for this support, which enables us to better serve and protect those in dire need.”

MotiMoves plans to continue its blanket distribution every weekend over the next few months. These donations are part of their larger goal to distribute 20,000 blankets this winter, highlighting their unwavering commitment to social upliftment and community support. After careful consideration, approximately 66 charities, organisations, and communities were selected to receive donations in the coming weeks, tailored to their specific requirements. Selected charities will be notified a week before delivery.
